Blog Appearance

I am going to slowly work on the appearance of my blog as I am having a difficult time trying to add things to my sidebar.  I am once again out of my league but I will eventually figure it out (probably by emailing EC again begging her to help me).  I am also going to be going back to my old posts and adding categories and tags.  I will probably do about ten a day, starting at the oldest, until I have gotten to them all.  It’s going to be a work in progress so bear with me and as usual I probably will be gone for weeks on end so don’t be alarmed.

A Change is Coming

Let me first start off by saying that I have thought long and hard about it and I am eventually going to switch over to WordPress. It will probably take the rest of the year to transfer all of my posts over there (because I rarely have time to mess with my blog) but I will eventually get over there. I am just kind of over Blogger’s templates. I liked the look I had with my blog but I wanted something new and I just couldn’t find it. I thought I would like it current look but it is just okay. I just want something new and fresh and I think that Wordpress can give that to me. Once I get started I will post the new address, which hopefully will be the same just with Wordpress at the end.

Now to the update on Smidgel. His first round of blood testing revealed that his platelet and calcium counts were on the high side of normal. Seeing that he was fighting an ear infection it could have explained the high platelet count. The high calcium could be from his diet or a sign of hyperthyroidism. So, we were supposed to have his blood redrawn yesterday but we have a new problem. He still had his ear infection at his nine month check-up so the doctor put him on augmentin. He finished his meds on Sunday and on Monday he had a rash. Wednesday we took him into the doctor because the rash was getting worse and they weren’t sure what it was. It could have been a reaction to the meds, to something in his environment or the beginnings of chicken pox. We went back on Friday to see if it looked more like chicken pox but they had not come to heads like chicken pox would have. They have classified him as being allergic to cillians. Seeing he was again fighting some sort of infection they didn’t want to draw the blood. We go back in the middle of June for a weight check so they are going to draw the blood then. Our appointments are scheduled, the endocrinologist is scheduled for the middle of July and the developmental pediatrician is scheduled for the middle of August (six days shy of his first birthday). I don’t know what good it is going to do us but I guess we should still make sure everything is working correctly. His weights this week were sixteen pounds, ten ounces on Wednesday and seventeen pounds, seven ounces on Friday. I don’t know how much I trust their scales but it seems as though he is gaining weight. That’s it for now. Pictures or Smidgel and home improvement in the next week or so…hopefully.
